ABOUT US
Altonian care is a family run home care agency, based at Alton Community Centre, delivering home care and live-in care services in Alton and Petersfield. We provide support to individuals living in their own home, to assist and improve the quality of their lives whilst maintaining their independence and personal choice.
Our aim is to make every day a good day for people that use our services. We achieve this by making sure our service users are safe, our staff are caring and responsive to people’s needs and that our management team have the knowledge and qualities to lead an effective team.
We recognize it is important to give people as much choice and control over their lives as possible and therefore we offer a service which takes into account each service user’s personal preferences as far as absolutely possible. Your dignity, privacy and retention of independence will be of paramount importance in the delivery of your care and support.
It is the aim of the agency to provide a flexible care service, responsive to each individual’s needs, and thus if you cannot find the services you require above then please contact us to discuss additional services we can offer.
OUR SERVICES
Personal Care
Your care worker will be able to undertake personal care services such as helping you to get up in the morning, washing, dressing, toileting, bed-making, helping you to go to bed at night etc.
Medication
The care Worker can prompt you to take any medicines that have been prescribed by your doctor, administer prescribed medicines, apply creams and ointments, instill eye drops and apply medicated patches.
Preparation of food and drink
Your care worker can prepare your breakfast, your mid-day meal, evening meal or supper, and any other snacks and drinks you may need during the day.
Overnight Care
Our care workers can support stay in your home overnight to provide care and support, including personal care & assistance to the toilet, repositioning and pressure relief, administering medication and anything else you might need them to assist you with.
We can offer you a flexible service in respect of caring for you at or through the night and can provide a ‘sleep night’ or ‘waking night’
Sleep nights are where the carers will sleep most of the night, but be available to be woken when needed, whereas a waking night is where the care workers will remain awake throughout the night.
Palliative Care & End of Life Care
Our care workers can provide palliative care to ensure people are able to remain in their own homes at the end of their lives and retain their dignity, comfort and independence.
Dementia Care
Our staff are trained and experienced in delivering care to people with dementia, keeping them safe and encouraging them to retain their independence and promoting active participation in their care delivery and in activities of daily living and social activities.
Our Staff
All of our staff undergo background checks, including a DBS check before starting work with us. All staff receive training in moving and handling, safe administration of medication, safeguarding vulnerable adults and children, pressure area care, nutrition and hydration, food safety, health and safety, mental capacity, equality and diversity, communication and record keeping, first aid, infection control, promoting privacy & dignity, person centered care and duty of care.
Our staff have the opportunity to complete diplomas in health and social care at level 2, 3 and 4 and our managers have completed qualifications in leadership and management in health and social care.
Flexible Care
We do not require long contracts and only need 24 hours notice of cancellations or changes.
Joining Altonian Care
If you are interested in becoming a service user a care coordinators who will find out about your care needs to ensure we have adequate staff availability and arrange a care assessment where we will plan and tailor your care package to meet your individual needs, wants and preferences.
We undertake regular reviews to update your care plan and ensure we are still meeting your needs and doing everything we can to keep your safe and independent at home
